RIP, Buster.
Coyotes attacking pets have been reported in large cities throughout the country including Denver, Cincinnati and Chicago.
Keith Hudson of Florence, a biologist for the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, told the Times Daily that coyotes, once thought to be creatures of western states, are highly adaptable and have no trouble surviving in a town.As part of their transformation to living among humans, coyotes have adapted their diet to foods they find in residential areas, including preying on pets, Hudson said.
Kenny Price, a Colbert County animal control officer, said several Shoals residents have reported coyotes killed their cat or small dog. He said when small pets start disappearing in a neighborhood, coyotes are often to blame.
