The Daily Doxie just discovered that Dachshund portraitist Terry Pond has her own blog. For some reason, until now, we thought that Terry Pond, whose work has been featured here before, was a man. Go check out her Doxie Doodles. Here’s one to get you started.

Moira at Dog Art Today has the details on the lengthy wiener dog and, as usual, many other fascinating stories.

Maybe she’ll have something to say about this Dachshund statue too.

Dachshund, originally uploaded by galinaderusia.

This Dachshund looks very strong and almost militaristic, definitely a creature of the Soviet Realist school. Does anyone know anything about its origins and what it happens to be doing in the St. Petersburg suburb of Zelenogorsk?

Meet my new brother Kirby.
My mom lives in Arkansas and went to her local pound. Believe it or not, there was a dachshund there that had been locked up since March! Who puts a doxie in the pound, and how is it possible for one to stay for nearly six months?

As you can see why from his picture, he melted my mom’s heart and she took him home. She now has five dogs, but Kirby is her only wiener (the others are two labs and two chihuahuas).

She says his tongue is too long for his mouth so it is always hanging out. Other things she describes about him remind me so much about my doxies, it is amazing. Kirby likes to cuddle, lick, is very protective, burrows under, has a strong hunting instinct and a wonderful disposition.
I am headed to visit my mom over Labor Day weekend and I can’t wait to meet Kirby! Welcome to the family.

I have been locked out of my Twitter account (DogTwitterer) for what seems like forever.

When I tell Twitter that I’ve forgotten my password, they send me a password reset email which sends me to this screen:

I then fill in my new password, verify it and click change. The exact same screen reappears.

If I click login, after changing my password, and try to log in with my new password, I get a message that says, “Wrong username/email and password combination.”

I have done this several times on several different occasions with new emails sent to me each time. It never works. Twitter has no technical support to speak of, which is yet another reason to hate it.

Can anyone help this Twitter hater get back into hateful Twitter?

Being that we have no human children, our wiener dogs are treated like grandchildren by our respective parents. My mom came to town this weekend for a visit and she couldn’t wait to see her “grandwienies.” We took them to the beach, mom gave them both baths, and of course, cradled them like babies. Too fun. Here are some photos.

If you live in San Diego or surrounding areas, don’t miss the San Diego Dachshund Club’s summertime picnic.

There are lots of good wiener-watching opportunities and it is a great place to make some new friends. See you there!

On Sunday, July 19 my oldest “son” Gary turns 9. We had an early birthday party for him while we were visiting Scott’s parent’s last week.
He had a great time – cake, presents, and all!
Happy birthday, Big Guy!
